super bamboo

China’s first sustainable eco-friendly community centre in rural Sichuan, the CCTF Cifeng Community Centre has been built using reconstituted bamboo and straw paneling. The building funded by KPMG as lead sponsor involved the contribution of many British and international companies introduced by CCTF UK.  The building which won a gold medal for sustainable design features:

Energy efficient design and creative use of renewable sources and daylighting;

Multi-purpose facilities for young and old, for leisure and learning;

Advanced communications connectivity;

A 2000 year old temple relic used by local residents is integrated within the design

Opened in early Summer 2010 the KPMG CCTF Cifeng Community Centre is now fully operational. Featuring China’s first School Safety & Emergency training programme amongst many other activities. The work of all contributors to the ecologically innovative structure is richly rewarded with the happy smiles of children and the pleasure taken by young and old alike in a truly amazing building designed by architect Lin Hao.
