New enterprise creation helps rural communities

CCTF UK has funded a major programme to train young women in rural areas in ‘business start-ups’ as an alternative to migration to China’s overcrowded cities.  The programme which commenced in 2008 has just concluded its first stage with some 300 women having been trained in entrepreneurship.  All trainees have successfully lodged application for financial support for incubating new businesses.  Three projects have been funded by CCTF from programme funds: a fish farm; a vegetable pickling and processing enterprise; and a soy paste processing plant.  These businesses have created jobs for more than 75 women
